THE REAL CHICKEN LITTLE
The Sky Is Falling, also known as Chicken Little, Chicken Licken or Henny Penny is an old, classical fable of unknown origin about a chicken who believes the sky is falling. The phrase has also become used to indicate a hysterical or mistaken belief that disaster is imminent.
ORIGIN
The origin of this fairy tale is unknown. Sometimes it is listed as one of Aesop's Fables. However, it is not. Also, sometimes it is presented as 'a Bulrovian fairy tale', although the country of Bulrovia doesn't exist. The basic motif, and many of the elements of the tale, can be found in one of the stories in the Jataka. That version features a rabbit or hare as the central character, rather than a chicken.
STORY
There are many versions of the story, but the basic premise is that a chicken called Chicken Little, Chicken Licken or Henny Penny believes the sky is falling down because an acorn (or in some versions a pebble that falls from a roof) falls on his (or, sometimes, her) head. He decides to tell the King, and on his journey meets other animals who join him in his quest. In most retellings, the other animals have similarly rhyming names (See Characters). Finally, they come across Foxy Loxy, a fox who offers to guide them all with the King, but taking them instead into his cave. At this point, there are many endings. In the most famous one, Foxy Loxy kills all of Chicken Little/Licken's friends, but the last one survives enough to warn him and he escapes. Other endings include Foxy eating them all, them being saved by a squirrel and getting to speak to the King, and even one in which the sky actually falls down and kills Foxy Loxy.

Chicken Little (2005) is a computer-generated imagery (CG) animated film, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and due to be released by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution on November 4th, 2005. It was written by Steve Bencich and Ron J. Firedman, and directed by Mark Dindal. The film was animated in-house at WDFA's main headquarters in Burbank, California.
This is Disney's first all-CG picture following the company's historic move of ending its trademark run of making traditionally animated movies and producing all its future feature films exclusively in CG. (Pixar's films were distributed but not animated by Disney, and Dinosaur was a combination of live action and CG.) It is not yet known whether Disney will consider Chicken Little to be the forty-fifth film in the Disney animated feature canon.
PLOT
In the small, suburban town of Oakey Oaks, Chicken Little (voiced by Scrubs star Zach Braff) has become the laughingstock of the town, much to the embarrassment of his father, Buck Cluck (voiced by Garry Marshall). The problem started about a year ago when Chicken Little rang the bell in the town square, telling everyone to "run for your lives!" and sending the whole town into a frenzied panic. He claimed that a piece of the sky had fallen on his head when he was sitting under the big oak tree in the town square. His dad, however, had assumed that this "piece of sky" was just an acorn that had fallen off the tree and had hit him on the head. The townspeople all thought that Chicken Little had rang the bell to get attention, and so he was shunned.
Now his only friends are outcasts like himself: Abby Mallard (voiced by Joan Cusack), who is called "Ugly Duckling" due to her buck teeth; Runt Of The Litter (voiced by Steve Zahn), who is mocked at for his extremely large size despite being the smallest in his family; and Fish Out Of Water, who wears a helmet full of water. All have been mocked and teased by neighborhood bully Foxy Loxy (voiced by Amy Sedaris) and her friend Goosey Loosey.
Chicken Little joins his school's Little League baseball team in an attempt to recover his reputation and his father's pride, and by batting a home run, it appears he's well on his way. But that night back at home, he is hit on the head by a strange hexagonal-shaped object which he recognizes as a piece of the sky. He summons his friends to help figure it out; when Fish pushes a button on the back of the hexagon, it flies back up into the sky. The town soon discovers that the piece of the sky was a front for an alien invasion, and it's up to Chicken Little and his friends to save the day.
